Gene Rhee: path to film making

Gene Rhee’s directorial debut, a comedic mock-documentary entitled “The Quest for Length” premiered at the 2002 Sundance Film Festival and won many awards on the festival circuit.  His project “Forsaken Seoul”, a dark, noir-ish thriller was based on a Nicholl Fellowship Finalist script that was set up at pop icon Madonna’s Maverick Films.

Gene Rhee eventually made another low-budget film festival hit, “The Trouble with Romance”.  Gene Rhee directed and co-wrote the screenplay with Sharri Hefner and Mike Su.  Warner Bros acquired distribution rights to the film and released it nationwide via On Demand digital cable along with a limited theatrical release.  He currently has numerous other projects in development.
